Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA) awarded this tendered contract to CAM in May 2008.
The entire project was carried out adjacent to and over sea water, requiring strict and effective environmental protection planning.
The project's first step was to reinforce the existing timber pontoon and gangway, to carry the weight of the new covered walkway.
Soon afterwards, civil works were completed to provide new concrete floor.
The covered walkway, featuring Plexiglas panels, was constructed at CAM's Glenfield factory, transported on CAM's hiab truck and installed by CAM's experienced crews; all project requirements, from design to handover, were undertaken in house.
The waiting shelter was constructed while the walkway was installed; final inspection and handover occuring in November 2008.
